Let’s have a look at IS 14887, IS 16208, and IS 14968 for the packaging of Food Grains and sugar.
Woven Sack made of Polypropylene (PP) or HDPE plastics through woven methods, where tapes are woven in two directions and made into fabrics. After Building Circular woven fabric, leave one side open and the other side sewn as the bottom side. Before applying for BIS Certification (ISI Mark), the manufacturer has to ensure that all specifications / Requirements are fulfilled as per IS 14887.
Tests and raw material requirements –
- HDPE / PP should be woven as a tube on circular looms from tapes having a width of 2.5cm and shall be confirmed to IS 6192 and IS 11197 respectively.
- Tensile test
- Dimension
- Breaking strength
- Ash content
- Heat shrinkage, etc
The testing lab should be available with all required equipment as per IS 14887 to get the BIS/ISI Certification. After receiving the BIS License/ ISI Mark, the Manufacturer has to follow the marking, packing and printing guidelines as per IS 14887.
