What is BIS Registration for Import in India?
BIS Registration for Import is simply a compulsory certification required by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for certain products being imported into the country. Foreign manufacturers can obtain this certificate through the BIS Foreign Manufacturers' Certification Scheme. If a product is imported into India, approval is essential to sell or distribute that product in the Indian market. BIS-registered products can legally obtain import clearance for customs.
BIS Registration is a requirement for overseas manufacturers, traders, and importers. This is essential for all imported products if you wish to clear customs and then access the Indian market. CRS BIS applies to a wide range of products, including electronics, IT equipment, consumer appliances, steel items, and others, especially if those products are part of the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme.
