Information about BIS Certification for Viscose Staple Fibres

Obtaining BIS certification for Viscose Staple Fibres is necessary as per IS 17266. VSF is a regenerated cellulosic fiber made from wood pulp, a sustainable natural resource and is biodegradable and environmentally friendly. The availability of raw materials and the low cost of chemical agents, as well as satisfactory textile properties and wide possibilities of modification, ensure that the production of viscose fibres is economical and widely used.

Depending on the intended use, viscose fibres are made into textile or cord threads, as well as staples. The production process consists of the following basic technological operations: Such as Production of spinning solution (viscose), Forming threads by the wet method, and Trimming and drying.

The central government issued a Quality Control Order (QCO) mandating ISI Mark Certification for viscose staple fibre (VSF), considering it essential or expedient in the public interest.

What is Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for Viscose Staple Fibres?

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the National Standards Body of India that develops and publishes Indian Standards, implements Conformity Assessment Schemes, recognises & runs laboratories for Conformity Assessment, implements Hallmarking, Works for Consumer empowerment, conducts capacity-building programs on quality assurance and represents the country in ISO & IEC.

Fabrics made of viscose fibers are easily dyed and have excellent hygienic properties (hygroscopicity), which is especially important for goods made for public use. The availability of raw materials and the low cost of chemical agents, as well as satisfactory textile properties and wide possibilities of modification, ensure that the production of viscose fibers is economical and widely used.

In the production of popular goods, viscose fibers are widely used for finishing silk and staple fabrics, knitwear and multi-purpose fabrics made from combinations of viscose fibers with cotton or wool, as well as with other synthetic fibers. High strength viscose cord is used for a wide range of technical goods. For example, replacing the cotton cord in tires with a high-strength viscose cord increases the life of the tire and reduces the amount of rubber needed to manufacture it.

Features of VSF

  • Traits description
  • Excellent performance

The performance of VSF is close to natural cotton fiber, it has good moisture absorption, breathability, dyeability, anti-static and soft texture, especially moisture absorption and air permeability, synthetic fibers cannot compare with it.

Good functional characteristics

VSF also had the characteristics of synthetic staple fibers. The gloss, chromatography, heat, corrosion of VSF are much better than synthetic, so the fabric made by VSF has beautiful colors and dynamic suspension.

Obvious environmental advantages

GlVSF is a biomass fiber, its waste can be naturally degraded and does not cause second pollution, the environmental benefits are obvious.

Strong material renewable

Cotton linter, wood, bamboo and hemp; renewable, recyclable agriculture and forestry resources are the main raw materials for VSF, the sustainability of VSF is superior to synthetic fibers that extract non-renewable petroleum as raw material.
