The Department For Promotion Of Industry And Internal Trade under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry published an Electric Fence Energizers (Quality Control) Order, 2024 on 14th November 2024.

Overview of the BIS QCO for Electric Fence Energizers

1. Enforcement Date - 

The date of implementation is different for different categories of businesses -

• Date of implementation in General (other than Micro and Small Enterprises) - 14th May 2025
• Date of implementation for Small Enterprises - 14th August, 2025
• Date of implementation for Micro Enterprises - 14th November, 2025

2. Applicability:

These orders apply to the products - Electric Fence Energizers.

Exemptions: This order does not apply to domestically manufactured products meant for export.

To prevent from substandard quality, all the Electric Fence Energizers products must comply with the corresponding Indian Standards to fulfill the quality requirements -

Note — For the Schedule, the rules and regulations of the most recent version of this Indian Standard that is published by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) shall apply.

3. Standards Compliance: 

The product -  Electric Fence Energizers must comply with IS 302-2-76:1999. The said product must bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau following Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

4. Certification and Enforcement: 

The Bureau of Indian Requirements is regarded as in charge of certifying and enforcing the quality requirements that apply to Electric Fence Energizer products.

Violations of such conditions of this order will result in penalties under the applicable Act. The QCO implementation authority is India's national standards authority, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
