To ensure the quality and safety for consumers in the Indian market, the Ministry of Mines under the Government of India has published the Refined Nickel IS 2782 Quality Control Order 2025. This QCO Amendment is in the official Gazette of India on 25th September 2025. The amendment is released under the notification number S.O. 4370(E), revising the implementation date of the original quality control mandate, pushing it forward to 17th April 2026.
This extension comes as a measured decision to allow industry stakeholders, including manufacturers, importers, and supply chain participants, adequate time to comply with the Bureau of Indian Standards certification requirements, without compromising the overarching commitment to quality and safety.
The new order was issued in the exercise of the powers conferred by tsub-sections (1) and (2) of Section 16, Section 17 and sub-section (3) of Section 25 of Bureau of Indian Standards( BIS) standards, where the Central Government finds it in the public interest to establish a new timeframe for implementation, particularly based on the feedback provided by industry and their readiness.
The new order was made in the exercise of the powers exercised under the provisions stated in sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 16, section 17 and sub-section (3) of section 25, of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), The Central Government finds that it is in the public interest to establish a new timeframe for implementation especially based on the feedback of industry and their readiness.

This amendment will be known as the "Refined Nickel (Quality Control) Amendment Order 2025." The order should come into force immediately after publication in the Official Gazette on the 25th of September 2025.
