IS 1470
IS 1470 is the Bureau of Indian Standards specification that governs the quality, composition, and testing requirements for Silicomanganese manufactured or sold in India. Under the Quality Control Order issued by the Ministry of Steel, all manufacturers of Silicomanganese are legally required to obtain ISI Mark Certification before placing their product in the Indian market.
Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of Silicomanganese (IS 1470) :
- Under section 14 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Steel, after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, has issued the Quality Control Order.
- As per the Quality Control Order, all the manufacturers of Silicomanganese are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.

- In the certification process, product testing is the most important stage as it determines whether the quality of the product meets Indian standards.
- For the same purpose, investments in testing facilities are required to install test equipment for internal factory test laboratories.
- Apart from the charges mentioned above in the table, we may ask you to pay/reimbursement for a Pre-Visit at your Factory Premises to ensure the conformity of your product as per the relevant Indian Standard & BIS guidelines for its BIS certification.
