BIS CERTIFICATION FOR RIM LATCHES IS 1019

1.   Introduction to Indian Standard IS 1019; Rim Latches

·       IS 1019 cover Rim Latches. This standard specifies the manufacturing, chemical and physical requirements and testing of Rim Latches.

·       Raw material shall confirm table 1 of IS 1019. Materials as per IS 1079, IS 280 and IS 4454 (Part 2) are under mandatory BIS Certification and manufacturer shall ensure that only ISI Marked material is used and is received with test certificate.

·       IS 1019 specifies the quality parameters or characteristics of the Rim Latches  as follows

2.   Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of Rim Latches  (IS 1019) :

·       Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Quality control order.

·       As per the Quality control order, all the manufacturers of Rim Latches are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.
