Introduction to Indian Standard IS 2095 Part 1 covers Gypsum Plaster Boards. This standard specifies the manufacturing, chemical and physical requirements and testing of Gypsum Plaster Boards.
Raw material shall conform to the following point –
a) Gypsum Plaster shall confirm clause 5.1 of IS 2095 Part 1
b) By–product Gypsum shall be as per IS 12679
c) Paper Liner shall be as per clause 5.3 of IS 2095 Part 1

- Under section 14 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Quality control order.
- As per the Quality control order, all the manufacturers of Gypsum Plaster Boards are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.

- In the certification process, product testing is the most important stage as it determines whether the quality of the product meets Indian standards.
