1381 (Part-1)
IS 1381 Part 1:2003 is the Bureau of Indian Standards specification for Narrow-Necked Boiling Flasks, defining the manufacturing, material, dimensional, and finish requirements for conical, flat-bottom, and round-bottom flasks across capacities from 25 ml to 10,000 ml in Class A and Class B grades. Raw materials used in manufacture must conform to Clauses 3.3 and 4.3 of IS 1381 Part 1, ensuring the glass composition meets the chemical resistance and thermal stability required for laboratory use. ISI Mark certification under IS 1381 Part 1 is mandatory for all manufacturers selling Narrow-Necked Boiling Flasks in India; non-compliance attracts product seizure and financial penalties under the BIS Act, 1986.

Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of Narrow-Necked Boiling Flasks (IS 1381 Part 1) :
Under section 14 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, has issued the Quality control order. As per the Quality Control Order, all the manufacturers of Narrow-Necked Boiling Flasks are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.

- In the certification process, product testing is the most important stage as it determines whether the quality of the product meets Indian standards
- For the same purpose, investments in testing facilities are required to install test equipment for internal factory test laboratories.
