BIS CERTIFICATION OF FERROMANGANESE IS 1171

1.   Introduction to Indian Standard IS 1171; Ferromanganese  

·       IS 1171 cover Ferromanganese. This standard specifies the manufacturing, chemical and physical requirements and testing of Ferromanganese.

·       IS 1171 specifies the quality parameters or characteristics of the Ferromanganese  as follows

(i)           Chemical Composition

(ii)         Particle Size

(iii)        Extraneous Contamination   

2.   Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of Ferromanganese  (IS 1171) :

·       Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Steel after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Quality control order.

·       As per the Quality control order, all the manufacturers of Ferromanganese are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.
