Indian Standard IS 2414 covers pneumatic tyres for cycles and rickshaws, specifying the requirements for manufacturing, chemical composition, physical properties, and performance testing to ensure safety, durability, and quality. As per this standard, the raw materials used must comply with specific Indian Standards, including Grey Cotton Yarn (IS 7133), Polymeric Yarn/Nylon Fabric (IS 11573), and Bead Wire (IS 4824). Specification of IS 11573 

IS 2414 specifies the quality parameters or characteristics of the Cycle and Rickshaw pneumatic tyres as follows

ISI Mark Certification of Cycle and Rickshaw pneumatic tyres  (IS 2414) :

Under section 14 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, has issued the Quality control order. As per the Quality Control Order, all manufacturers of Cycle and Rickshaw pneumatic tyres are required to obtain the ISI Mark Certification.

  • For the same purpose, investments in testing facilities are required to install test equipment for internal factory test laboratorie
