BIS CERTIFICATION OF BITUMEN DRUMS IS 3575

1.   Introduction to Indian Standard IS 3575; Bitumen Drums, Large Open Top

·       IS 3575 cover Bitumen Drums. This standard specifies the manufacturing, chemical and physical requirements and testing of Bitumen Drums.

·       Raw material should confirm following requirements, Body and Shell- Steel Sheet as per IS 513 (Part 1) or IS 1079 Closure – Steel Sheet as per IS 513 (Part 1) or IS 1993

·       IS 3575 specifies the quality parameters or characteristics of the Bitumen Drums  as follows

2.   Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of Bitumen Drums  (IS 3575) :

·       Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Quality control order.

·       As per the Quality control order, all the manufacturers of Bitumen Drums are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.
