BIS ISI CERTIFICATION OF AAC BLOCK as per IS 2185 Part-3

1.   Introduction to Indian Standard IS 2185 Part 3; AAC Block

·       IS 2185 Part 3 cover AAC Block. This standard specifies the manufacturing, chemical and physical requirements and testing of AAC Block.

·       Manufacturer has to arrange the test certificate/Test report from the BIS Recognized Lab of Raw Material (Flyash, Lime, Construction Water, Cement, Sand etc)

·       IS 2185 Part 3 specifies the quality parameters or characteristics of the AAC Block as follows

(i)           Dimension and Tolerances

(ii)         Block Density

(iii)        Compressive Strength

(iv)        Thermal Conductivity

2.   Mandate for ISI Mark Certification of AAC Block (IS 2185 Part 3) :

·       Under section 14 of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued the Quality control order.

·       As per the Quality control order, all the manufacturers of AAC Block are obligated to obtain ISI Mark Certification.
