Category: BIS Registration (CRS)
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) requires certain electronic products to obtain a Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) to ensure the reliability, safety, and quality of the product. Printers and Plotters fall under the same category. These are the vital components across different sectors, from offices to firms. This product certification falls under the Indian Standard IS 13252 (Part 1).
They are advanced devices designed for high-quality printing and plotting. These devices deliver exceptional printing capabilities, allowing for high-resolution outputs that meet the needs of today's users. Whether you are a domestic or foreign manufacturer aiming to sell your product in India, obtaining BIS CRS Registration India is compulsory. Go through the below given information below to know everything about Registration for Printers and Plotters.
Anything that exists in the physical world can be printed by the printers. They are classified into different types, such as Inkjet Printers, Dot Matrix Printers, Laser Printers, Wide-format Plotters, and Engineering Plotters (used in CAD applications), Multifunction Devices (that include printing), etc. Whereas a plotter is computer hardware that prints vector graphics like a printer does.
Plotters draw continuous lines using a pencil, pen, marker, or any writing instrument. So, plotters print schematics and similar applications on paper. The BIS has released an official gazette notification that shows the compulsory registration for products under the Scheme II category. Without a valid BIS license, no manufacturer can sell or trade its equipment in India.
Here are the key specifications and requirements of IS 13252 (Part 1):
1. Scope: Covers all safety requirements of IT and Electronic Equipment powered by the low-voltage AC/DC (not exceeding 600V).
2. Electrical Safety: Protects against Electrocution, Overcurrent, and short circuits, Insulation failures, and Earthing and grounding requirements.
3. Protection Against Fire Hazard: Devices must be built with materials that are Flame-retardant, a heat-resistant enclosure, and Circuitry to prevent overheating.
4. Thermal Safety: The device is to work within a safe temperature range. Internally, the temperatures must not be high enough to produce burns or damage.
5. Mechanical Strength: Products must be able to resist mechanical stresses and avoid sharp edges and moving parts that could injure the user.
6. Acoustic and Radiation Safety: Limit exposure of Noise to harmful levels, and Radiation (electromagnetic, laser, UV, etc.)
7. Components & Power Supply Requirements: Must use certified components (e.g., certified power cords, adaptors) and Power surge and voltage fluctuation protections.
8. Testing requirements
All equipment must undergo type testing in BIS-recognised laboratories to evaluate testing results for Dielectric strength, Earth continuity, Leakage current, and Abnormal functioning and fault conditions.
Below, you can go through the essential pillars for Product registration under Scheme II:
Let us now look at the BIS CRS Registration process. The BIS Scheme-II has different processes for both process for domestic (Indian) and foreign manufacturers.
A. Process for Foreign Manufacturer
B. Process for Domestic Manufacturer
We have set forth below the process for domestic manufacturers:
Below, we have mentioned the tests performed to check the quality of your product:
