Category: BIS Registration (CRS)
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) mandates that all electronic devices covered under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) must be registered before they can be manufactured, imported, stored, or sold in India. Manufacturers producing Electronic Devices (ADPM) are required to obtain BIS certification to legally market their products in the country. Without this mandatory approval, ADPM devices cannot be distributed or sold in the Indian market.
The Automated Data Processing Machine (ADPM) is an advanced hardware system that collects, processes and stores large quantities of information at an extremely high speed and with an extremely high degree of accuracy. The ADPM consists of many different types of hardware, such as magnetic or optical readers, coded data transcription devices, and machines that can perform a virtually unlimited number of automated data operations with very little human effort. ADPMs can be used in every type of sector, including education, healthcare, research, entertainment and security.
Note: According to the recent update by the Central Government, the Indian Standard 13252 (Part 1) has been substituted by IS/IEC 62368 (Part 1). To know more, connect with the ERCS Team.
Automatic Data Processing (ADP) Machines in India are certified under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Compulsory Registration Scheme (Scheme-II) based on the IS 13252 (Part 1) standard. The key specifications for this standard primarily focus on the safety of information technology equipment, including electronic business equipment.
An Automatic Data Processing (ADP) machine is a type of computer used for processing and storing large amounts of data. ADP machines are designed to perform a range of tasks, including data entry, data storage, data processing, and data output. The first ADP machines were developed in the 1950s and 1960s, and they were primarily used by large businesses and government agencies for tasks such as payroll processing, inventory management, and financial analysis. These early machines were typically large, expensive, and required specialised expertise to operate.
The Key aspects of the Automatic Data Processing Machine are given below. Let’s go through them to know more:
