Category: BIS Certification
Obtaining the BIS certification is an important step for Ring Type Needle Bearing manufacturers in terms of quality, safety, and Indian Standards compliance. With the certificate, manufacturers can allow their products to bear the ISI mark, a symbol well-appreciated and respected among buyers and government bodies. Needle bearings standardization through a document like IS 4215 plays a significant role in India's industrial supply chain sector.
Standards offer a common technical language between manufacturers and clients, ensuring interchangeability of components in performance and operation across applications. Of course, conformity to the standardized specifications becomes even more critical when considering components as important as bearings, which, in case of failure, lead to disastrous system collapses. From the viewpoint of mechanical engineering, BIS standards such as IS 4215 are in harmony with international best practices, while meeting the special needs of the Indian market.
These roller bearings consist of a solid outer ring and complementing needle rollers. Ring needle bearings are distinguished by small radial dimensions, high-load capacity, and limited radial space.
Key Features of IS 4215 Certification under BIS:
IS 4215 is the Indian Standard specifying design, dimensions, tolerances, and parameters for performance for ring-type needle bearings to make them interchangeable and suitable for a variety of industrial applications. This standard covers various technical and functional aspects:
The Released Bearings Quality Control Order issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry mandating BIS Certification for all bearing manufacturers, importers, and suppliers, including Ring Type Needle Bearings as per IS 4215, ensures bearing product quality and safety in the Indian Market.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards, is issuing a draft Quality Control Order for Bearing Components and Accessories. The Order is to be enacted under the authority of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act 2016. Its objective is to control the manufacture, import, and sale of certain bearing components to ensure these meet requisite quality standards.
The Bearing Components and Accessories (Quality Control) Order, 2025, makes it mandatory that the product "Needle Rollers for Rolling Bearings" shall conform to the Indian Standard: IS 4217: 2020. These products shall bear the Standard Mark under a valid license from BIS, as per the procedure laid down either in Scheme I or Scheme II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
