The certification covers single-phase appliances up to 250V and other appliances up to 480V. It evaluates parameters such as insulation, heating resistance, and leakage current.
Testing Parameters for Commercial Cooking Appliances IS 302 Part 1: 2024/IEC 60335-1
Under the Safety of Household and Commercial Appliances, appliances must be evaluated for compliance with IS 302 Part 1: 2024/IEC 60335-1 to ensure electrical safety, construction integrity and thermal endurance. The performance of these appliances also needs to be confirmed in accordance with the above standard.
- Test Probes: Test probes are to be used to check clearance around operating controls, cables and accessible surfaces.
- Functional Earthing: The path for earthing from the metal chassis to the panel should be verified.

- IP Ratings: Appliances shall be assessed to ensure there is no access to moisture or splashing water during excessive/deep cleaning processes.
- Power Input & Current: Power input and current measurements shall remain within ±10 % of the rating.
- Internal Wiring & Components: Electrical wires, terminal blocks and switchgear shall be verified to ensure they have the required thermal performance and spacing.
- Leakage Current & Electric Strength: Tests assessing the quality of dielectric insulation shall demonstrate that it can withstand high-voltage spikes/shorts without breaking down.
