BIS Audit for EVA and Polyethylene Material as per IS 17927 & IS 7328

We are glad to inform you that the ERCS team has successfully completed another BIS audit for our foreign customer in Taiwan for their product "EVA Moulding and Extrusion Materials" in accordance with IS 17927 (Part 1). In contrast, "Polyethene Material For Moulding And Extrusion" as defined in IS 7328: 2020 falls within the FMCS framework. As a result, the Bureau of Indian Standards has given a BIS Licence for EVA Moulding as per IS 17927 Part 1 and Polyethene material as per IS 7328.

What is BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards)?

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is India's national standards body, functioning under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, Government of India. BIS specialises in product standardisation, certification, and testing.

FMCS BIS Certification

The BIS Act of 2016 and the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations of 2018 establish the Foreign Manufacturer Certification Scheme, which grants a BIS license to a foreign manufacturer. The license is awarded for goods that meet relevant Indian Standards.

Audited Products :

IS 17927 Part 1 (2022) covers EVA Moulding and Extrusion Materials. This standard (Part 1) specifies the specifications, sampling technique, and testing procedures for general-purpose EVA moulding. Such as for use in articles that come into contact with food, pharmaceuticals, drinking water, etc.

IS 7328 covers the moulding and extrusion of polyethylene materials. This standard (Part 1) establishes the standards, method of sampling, and test for polyethylene moulding designed for general uses, such as for use in articles in contact with food, pharmaceuticals, drinking water, and so forth.

Suggestions to Manufacturers :

To achieve BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the producer must verify that their product meets the stated Indian Standard Specifications (ISS), which we have directly interpreted to you from BIS authorities in accordance with Indian Standards.

All producers must get a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards in order to sell their products in India and use the standard ISI mark. ERCS Pvt Ltd has established a large network within the industry and several BIS departments to aid in assuring the conformance of the product EVA and polyethylene materials to IS 17929 and IS 7328.

About BIS Auditing Process for IS 17927 & IS 7328 certification : 

The BIS officer inspects the factory as part of the BIS certification procedure. To get satisfactory results, the BIS inspection should run easily and without any non-conformities. BIS audits several management system certification systems in collaboration with external auditors. Auditors are appointed based on their qualifications, professional experience, and audit training, as well as their competence.

i. Samples are tested at the plant according to the applicable Indian standards.

ii. Seal samples for independent testing at a BIS-recognised laboratory.
