What is the Bureau of Indian Standards Certification?

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is an organization situated in India that deals with standards, and under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution of the Government of India. Major activities of BIS include product standardisation, certification, and testing.

FMCS BIS Certification for Foreign Manufacturers

The BIS Act of 2016 and the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations of 2018 established the FMCS License, which awards a BIS license to a product of a foreign manufacturing company. The license is granted for goods that fulfil applicable Indian standards.

Audited Products:

1. IS 733 covers Wrought Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Bars, Rods and Sections (For General Engineering Purposes). This standard set out the specifications, sampling technique, and testing procedures for Wrought Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Bars, Rods and Sections (For General Engineering Purposes). 

2. IS 1285 covers Wrought Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys- Extruded Round Tubes and Hollow Sections for General Engineering Purposes. This standard set out the specifications, sampling technique, and testing procedures for Wrought Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys- Extruded Round Tube and Hollow Sections for General Engineering Purposes. IS 733 and IS 1285, both are used to manufacture Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy (Hollow and Solid).
