n-Butyl Acrylate Quality Control Order Suspension Extended

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers announced a notification on July 9, 2026, regarding the N-Butyl Acrylate (Quality Control) Order, 2021. The government extended the existing suspension period of the Quality Control Order from July 10, 2026, to July 31, 2026. This decision has been taken to ensure the uninterrupted availability of n-Butyl Acrylate in the country.

The Indian Government previously issued the n-Butyl Acrylate (Quality Control) Order 2021 under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016, requiring n-Butyl Acrylate to comply with all relevant Indian Standards and BIS stipulations. However, due to global supply chain disruptions, the Government suspended the implementation of this Quality Control Order. In the recent notification dated July 9, 2026, the Government has further extended the suspension of the Quality Control Order till July 31, 2026.

Why Has the Suspension Been Extended?

As stated in the publication, the Government noted that:

  • Disruption of the global supply chain continues to make it difficult to source n-Butyl Acrylate.
  • It is necessary to keep this important chemical available in the Indian market.
  • The extension of the suspension is necessary in the public interest to avoid shortages.
  • The Central Government, after consulting with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), has decided to extend the suspension.

What Has Changed?

Only one date has been revised in the existing Quality Control Order.
