BIS Certification For Hexagon Head Bolts, Screws And Nuts Of Product Grade C Hexagon Head Bolts (Size Range M 5 TO M 64) IS 1363 (PART-1)
Hexagon head bolt grade C is hex
bolt with low mechanical property and large tolerance on dimension. Also partial
threaded with shank, grade C hex head bolt do not apply to applications which
require precise assembly, it always match's with grade C hex nut.
Hex bolts, also called hexagon
screw head bolts, hex cap bolts, hex-cap screws, or machine bolts, are a very
common choice when it comes to construction and repair. Hexagon screw head
bolts come in a large variety of sizes and diameters.
Hex Cap Screws vs Hex
Cap Bolts
The terms “hex cap screw” and “hex cap
bolt” are often used synonymously when describing a threaded fastener with a
hexagonal head. With that said, bolts are typically designed to be used with
one or more nuts, whereas screws are not. Some screws can also create their own
threading during installation. In comparison, bolts must be installed into the
existing threading of a machine or object. Even with these nuances, many people
use the terms “hex cap screw” and “hex cap bolt” interchangeably.
BIS is a statutory

Hex Head Bolts
are not Hex Cap
Screws
Mistaking
a hex cap screw for a hex bolt is very common, but the two fasteners differ in
many ways, including how they are used and installed.
- Hex bolts are installed by turning
a nut to tighten the fastener.
Hex cap screws are installed into tapped holes by turning the head to assemble and tighten.
- Hex bolts have neither the washer
face nor chamfered point.
Hex cap screws feature a washer face on the bearing surface and the chamfered point.
- Hex bolts are often used in the
construction industry, where mechanical properties are more critical than
dimensional tolerances.
Hex cap screws are commonly used for precision applications where tight tolerance is required.
