• IS 13340 Part 1 cover Power Capacitors of Self-healing Type for AC systems (1000V). This Indian Standard (Part 1) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 60831-1 : 2002 ‘Shunt power capacitors of the self-healing type for A.C. systems having a rated voltage up to and including 1 000 V - Part 1: General - Performance, testing and rating - Safety requirements - Guide for installation and operation’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) after incorporating Amendment No.1 in 2002 was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Power Capacitors Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1993. This first revision has been undertaken to harmonize it with the latest version of IEC 60831-1 : 2002 and adopt this standard under dual numbering system.

• IS 13340 Part 1 specifies the quality parameters or characteristics of the Power Capacitors of Self-healing Type for AC systems (650V) as follows
